Large Gilt Repoussé Bronze Figure of Padmasambhava, Tibet, 17th Century
Well cast and rendered in a seated dhyanasana pose with legs crossed and the soles of both feet upturned, the meditative figure with a smiling expression and round face framed by a pair of pendulous earlobes, dressed in a long dhoti richly decorated with bands of lotus throughout and bearing a separately cast khatvanga, his signature weapon pressed against his chest and left arm

Note:
Padmasambhava was an 8th Century Buddhist guru who went to Tibet and spread the sutras over a period of fifty years. He is known as one of the great founders of Tibetan Buddhism and is often identified with a khatvanga, a divine staff.
