Watercolour on J. Whatman watermarked paper dated 1883; signed “E.I. Russell” and dated ‘83 at New York lower left

Together with:

Capt. Thompson Dinsmore’s “Log Book/ Voyages of the Northern Empire Commanded by Captain Dinsmore”, Simpson & Shaw, Ship Stores and Chandlery, New York [publishers] with handwritten, dated entries from Wednesday, January 4, 1882 to Wednesday, February 28, 1883. Marbled boards with calf spine.

Together with a thick paper envelope with typeset lettering: “L. Westergaard & Co., Ship Agents and Ship Brokers” containing Captain Dinsmore’s numerous and variously dated “Papers of the ‘Bk Northern Empire’”
