About artist/note:

The LLC studio stamp relates to the Lord Leighton Collection and was put on all drawings which remained in Leighton’s studio at Leighton House at the time of his death. The encircled number ‘J(?)83’ verso is a reference number from the Fine Art Society who sold Leighton’s drawings in c. 1897.

Leighton’s finished canvas “Solitude” measuring 72” x 36” is in the Maryhill Museum of Art, Goldendale, Washington.
