Note:

Shelagh Keeley, who was born in Oakville, Ontario in 1954, now divides her time between Toronto and New York City. Upon completion of her studies at York University in Toronto, she came to prominence in the 1980s and then produced a significant cannon of work. Keeley’s artistic production has had a marked impact nationally and abroad, in part because of its thematic concerns which often include access, representation, feminism, identity and diversity. She is also celebrated for the manner in which she handles her materials and processes and for the way in which she reveals the role of the artist in her work. Keeley's works, which include small drawings and book-works as well as large pieces, are often considered both intuitive and sensual. Her work is housed in numerous prominent institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England.
