Provenance:

Private Collection, Toronto.

Note:

Swedish born Jan Poldaas studied to be an architect but has emerged as one of Canada’s most important minimalist painters. Much of Poldaas’ oeuvre is concerned with the formulation of colour and according to Roald Nasgaard in Abstract Painting in Canada, “The distinction of Poldaas’s project was that he was working with colour at a time when colour had little place in Minimalist or Conceptual art.” Poldaas is collected internationally and is included in the permanent collections of the Art Gallery of Ontario and the National Gallery of Canada.
