Note:

Edward Burtynsky is widely regarded as one of Canada's most respected and important photographers. Born in St. Catharines, Ontario in 1955 Burtynsky holds both a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Photography from Ryerson University and a Graphic Art degree from Niagara College. His remarkable photographic depictions of global industrial landscapes convey an awesome and astonishing beauty that often conflicts with the compromised environments they depict. He is included in the collections of major museums around the world, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum, both in New York. In 2006 he was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of Canada and given an honorary Doctor of Laws, from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Canada, in the United States, Europe and Asia and is represented by numerous prominent galleries, both nationally and abroad.
