Note:
The American magazine Interview was founded in late 1969 by Andy Warhol and British journalist John Wilcock. Nicknamed "The Crystal Ball of Pop," the magazine featured intimate conversations between some of the world's most famous celebrities, artists, musicians, and creative thinkers such as Flora McEwan photographed by Barry McKinley as depicted in this lot.
In the beginning, complimentary copies of Interview were often given away to the "in-crowd"; this was the start of the magazine's circulation. Warhol continued to promote the magazine near the end of his life distributing issues in the street to passersby and creating signing events on the streets of Manhattan, New York City. The creative covers of Interview were designed and printed by artist Richard Bernstein during the 1970s and 1980s.
