“If the viewer detects a note of humour in Miki’s work, this is understandable. Inuit art has a strong undercurrent of humour and this is especially so for Miki. His animal or bird figures tilt, turn and lean; their sensitive snouts, always surmounted with two beady eyes, induce a smile. And yet, these works are remarkably statuesque and one must ultimately take them seriously.”
