Note:

Painted circa 1912.

Murray writes: “Looking down from the window of her studio on the colourful public school garden opposite her home in Ottawa that summer, she became fascinated with the individual plots where children weeded and planted. ‘That garden and the children working in it inspired most of my early work’. She continued to paint the garden for many years.”
