Although MacDonald notes that Humphrey’s musical background was slight, from 1950–1957, he played in the string section of the Saint John local symphony orchestra and often played classical music with a violinist friend at parties. Professor W.C. Bowden was a well-known music teacher and expert violin maker in Saint John, N.B. He died on March 21, 1959 at the age of 86.
