This work was commissioned by the Bank of Montreal, Montreal, in April, 1955 and is based on a sketch executed on a trip to Newfoundland a few years before it was commissioned by the bank for their 1956 pictorial calendar produced by E.S. & A. Robinson Ltd., Toronto.
