Lot Report

Literature:

Victor Cicansky: Clay Sculpture, exhibition catalogue, Norman Mackenzie Art Gallery, Regina, 1983, page 21 and plates 37-40 for other pantry works.

The exhibition catalogue notes: “It is in the pantries that nature is tamed.” The characteristic of “tactile mimeticism” is also emphasized together with the sensuality of these works and with the act of gardening to which they refer and which “is paralleled by the ceramic production itself in an image which is as real to the touch as to the sight.”
