Lot Report

Provenance:

Private Collection, Quebec.

Literature:

William Kurelek, Someone With Me, Niagara Falls Art Gallery, Niagara Falls, Ontario, 1986, pages 19.

Note:

Recalling a childhood experience with the family stove, Kurelek remembered, “John, Winnie and I almost set fire to the whole house when Father was in Manitoba and Mother was in town shopping. A dangerous game developed between us as to who could hold a piece of paper longest after opening the stove cover and lighting the paper from the burning wood inside. Our sport came to an abrupt end when Winnie burned a great hole in the front of her dress.”
