He was recaptured and sentenced on April 1, 1933, at Denver, Colorado, to 8 years in the United State Penitentiary, Leavenworth, Kansa, for forgery of postal money order, and escaped from Denver, Colorado, General Hospital No. 9, May 5, 1933. Subject Lewis was recaptured at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and escaped enroute United States Penitentiary, McNeil island, Washington, near Miles City or Harlowton, Montana, August 26, 1933
